Early in the morning, Supercell, the company behind Clan Clash, Brawl Stars, and Real Shock, mocked a phenomenon that will provide future content that will reach its final title in an update expected in April.
Players were given a simple picture of a bottle with a cork in the game, sealing the contents. On the official Clash Royale page on Instagram, they subtitled the same photo with Earth's emoticons and the explosions surrounding them.
Although the Clash of Clans players were vague, they quickly identified the contents of the pot, decrypted the secret message, and concluded that the image of the teaser was likely to be added to the game: Earthquake.
For those unfamiliar with the role of the earthquake in the Clash of Clans, the spell was used to do what a true earthquake, flat structures, do. For moderate elixir cost, players could use the earthquake spell on enemy buildings, causing a lot of damage and allowing the troops to clean the walls and structures.
A common strategy in Clash of Clans that is currently not possible due to the bicycle mechanics of the Clash Royale card is to play many earthquake spells simultaneously, to overshadow their damage and to clad a huge ground area. It should be noted that the earthquake causes damage that is proportional to the current state of health of a building.
Currently, the game that comes closest to a possible earthquake spell is the poison that slowly damages all henchmen and buildings in the area. It will be interesting to see how the Clash Royale team will use it in their game to distinguish it from Poison, while feeling the same as in Clash of Clans.
With the April update next week, players will have a new destructive toy to play with when wordplay is the real problem.
